Improvised Music at Stone Church Saint John NB on Feb 9 2022.
Arthur Bull has been active on the improvised music scene in Canada since the mid-1970s Over the years, Arthur Bull has collaborated with many other leading Canadian and international improvisers, and has appeared on more than 25 CDs in solo, duo and group settings. He has toured extensively, including tours of Europe, Mideast, Australia/NZ and Mexico. Arthur Bull is a published poet, with five poetry books to his name, and works as an activist for small-scale fisheries, locally and internationally. He lives on Digby Neck in Nova Scotia.
Norman Adams is the Artistic Director of suddenlyLISTEN Music, and is a cellist, organizer, teacher and creator. Norm is a former Principal Cellist of Symphony Nova Scotia (1991 – 2018), has been guest Principal Cellist of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and has performed chamber, new and improvised music throughout Canada, the US, Europe and the UK, (most recently at La Biennale di Venezia 2018).
Robin Streb is a member of Symphony NB and an active new music performer across Canada. Originally from British Columbia, she frequently performed with Vancouver Island Symphony, Victoria Symphony and Vancouver Opera Orchestra, the Melange Chamber Ensemble and the Vancouver Miniaturist Ensemble. Robin has performed in the Los Angeles area with the Okiro Series, Tonoi Ensemble, CTRL+ALT+REPEAT, New West Symphony, and various events at the California Institute of the Arts.
Joël Cormier studied percussion at the University of Toronto under Beverly Johnston, John Rudolph and Russell Hartenberger where he finished his DMA. During his time in Toronto, Joel played with various orchestras including the Kingston Symphony, Peterborough Symphony, Brampton Symphony and the Esprit Orchestra. Joel released his first solo percussion CD, “Les voiles blanches” in 2012. Joel is a member of the Sonore Percussion Trio, Symphony New Brunswick and teaches at Mount Allison University.
Andrew Reed Miller is a bass player, composer and improviser living in Saint John Canada. Mr. Miller is a principal bass of Symphony New Brunswick and is artistic director of Resonance New Music Inc., which has presented new and experimental music in and around NB since 1998. Andrew has performed at many venues, including Open Ears Festival (Kitchener), New Music Calgary, Sound Symposium (Newfoundland), the Scotia Festival of Music, Ensemble Kore (Montreal) The Music Gallery (Toronto), Western Front (Vancouver), and Tonic (New York).

Norman Adams and Andrew Reed Miller improvised both virtually and in person, from April to September 2020 creating a new body of work to be performed in 2021 and beyond.
Norman Adams the Artistic Director of suddenlyLISTEN music and was Principal Cellist of Symphony Nova Scotia from 1991 to 2018. A student of Hans Jørgen Jensen, Bernard Greenhouse, and American new music pioneer Pauline Oliveros, Norman has been a soloist with SNS, and Les Jeunes Virtuoses de Montréal, and has performed chamber and improvised music throughout Canada, the US, France, Italy, Czech Republic and the UK. His performances have also been heard across the country on CBC Radio. In 2010 Norman was awarded an Established Artist Award by the Nova Scotia Arts and Culture Partnership Council for his varied work. In addition to his work as a classical cellist, Norman is well known across Canada, as an exploratory musician, playing free and creative music. Norman has collaborated with many leading artists including Joelle Leandre, Gerry Hemingway, Eddie Prévost, Pauline Oliveros, Buck 65, Xavier Charles, Marilyn Crispell and Evan Parker.
