Gerd Aurell is a visual artist, born 1965 in Karlstad, Sweden. She spent five years of her childhood in Port Hastings, Nova Scotia and she now lives and works in Umea, Sweden. Her main focus in art is drawing, graphic novels and film. Her work has been shown widely in Sweden and also, among other places, at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and the Gana Art Gallery in Seoul, South Korea. She presently holds a position as Supervisor of the Aesthetics course at the Umea Art Academy.
 
Karin Aurell, played in the Norrkoping Symphony Orchestra for many years. Since moving to Canada's East coast in 2001, she has been performing with Motion Ensemble, Trio Arkaède (With Isabelle Fournier and Julien LeBlanc) and with the newly formed wind quintet Ventus Machina. She is passionate about performing new music, and has collaborated with many of the composers in the region. Karin also teaches flute at Mount Allison University and at Université de Moncton.

--The two sisters have been building their creative collaboration for the past five years. This is their third project together, and as well as the four concerts being presented across the Maritimes, they are also performing this program in Umea, Sweden in May, and in Skaftafjell, Iceland in October of this year.
